Summary: This session reviews the emerging evidence of neurological manifestations of COVID-19 and identifies how SLPs can use their unique position to maximize patient outcomes-whether as a member of an interdisciplinary team or as a solo provider. The session strives to increase clinicians' confidence in their abilities to: identify common cognitive-communication symptoms for patients who have recovered from COVID-19, and evaluate and treat with an individualized, patient-centered approach.

Summary: Motor speech disorders occur secondary to a wide variety of progressive neurological disorders. This course discusses strategies for the speaker, listener, and environment that clinicians can consider for managing progressive motor speech disorders. Summary: There is a high prevalence of brain injury among youth and adults in the criminal justice system. The cognitive-communication impairments associated with brain injury can be a risk factor for both justice involvement and recidivism as well as barrier to successful community reintegration. This session focuses on the emerging role of SLPs with this underserved population, which may include assessment and intervention but may also include advocacy as well as training and education of front-line staff and justice professionals.

Summary: This webinar will explore alternative access methods in early childhood along with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), with a focus on switch access. The speaker will discuss a total access approach assigning meaning to all communication attempts, increasing social interactions and acceptance, and presuming competence for the youngest learners. The webinar will share examples of play-based learning activities that SLPs can customize to meet a child's unique interests and passions while focusing on alternative access methods.

Summary: This course is composed of a journal article that discusses person-centered assessment methods and tools for primary progressive aphasia (PPA). Using case studies, the authors define and present components of person-centered assessment, outline the R.A.I.S.E. assessment framework, and discuss its practical applications for assessment and treatment of individuals with PPA as well as for working with their care partners.

Summary: Behavioral tests for CAPDs can be affected by many factors, including cognition, development, compliance, and language ability, which limits interpretation of test results. This session will discuss electrophysiological testing, which provides an objective method of assessing the neural integrity of auditory processing at multiple levels of the auditory system and can aid in the interpretation of behavioral test results. Summary: Despite the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 stating that people with disabilities should have access to their communities, a critical component has often been overlooked—training emergency first responders to communicate with people who have complex communication needs. In this session, two SLPs demonstrate how they have trained nearly 2,000 emergency first responders.
