Summary: The lived experiences of neurodivergent adolescents and adults reveal that changes are needed in how SLPs approach social communication assessment and intervention. Client-centered protocols for assessing social communication must address two goals: the needs of the student, and the perspectives and behaviors of the student's peers that support or hinder social interactions. Summary: Live captioning systems can be used in schools, clinical health/therapy settings, restaurants, banks, and other settings where captioning services are difficult to obtain or simply not available. This session identifies issues limiting the use of these systems, proposes solutions, and provides best practice suggestions for how to deploy universally accessible captioning, note-taking, and translation systems in all situations.
