Summary: Meniere’s disease (MD) rarely occurs in children. Due to this, care and treatment by knowledgeable clinicians and physicians are lacking. This presentation reviews a case of a 10-year-old male with diagnosed MD, the interdisciplinary approach for care and treatment, the cross-facility approach for obtaining best results, and follow-up hearing aid fitting suggestions for the affected ear. Summary: This course addresses assessment standards for confident diagnosis of exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction (EILO) for clinicians across settings. Speakers discuss differential diagnoses and complex, co-occurring conditions as well as provide an update on terminology used to describe variants of what used to be commonly known as paradoxical vocal fold motion (PVFM). The speakers use case examples and research summaries to discuss current, evidence-based, behavioral methods for remediation and resolution of these conditions. Summary: For stroke survivors with aphasia (SWA), language recovery is highly variable given the extent to which damage may exist in multiple neighboring brain regions. For African American SWA, social determinants of health also contribute to stroke recovery and aphasia rehabilitation, and SLPs can play a vital role in ensuring health equity. This session discusses evidence-based practices that holistically support neurorehabilitation for African American SWA, focusing on assessment, intervention, and culturally competent service provision that targets health-related quality of life and health literacy.

Summary: Cultural responsiveness is an approach that uses both cultural knowledge/competence and cultural humility to honor a client's culture across all aspects of their treatment and learning. Cultural responsiveness is a fluid approach and requires partnership with a client as well as self-reflection. This micro course explores questions related to cultural responsiveness, like, "What does a culturally responsive interaction look and feel like?" and "How might one situation elicit many different reactions or perceptions?"
