Summary: This on demand webinar reviews the evolution of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS), examines myths and misunderstandings about this service delivery context, and discusses the essential components of thorough implementation. Presenter Maureen Staskowski highlights the differences among MTSS, RTI, and “treating students off-caseload” and discusses using MTSS to help students with both decoding and language comprehension in the framework of the Simple View of Reading. Lastly, the presenter shares tips for coping with workload issues related to MTSS and advocating for SLPs’ contributions to raising student outcomes using MTSS.
Presenter(s): Christine Sapienza, PhD, CCC-SLP

Summary: Behavioral interventions that provide a calibrated mode for strengthening inspiratory and expiratory muscles are limited and often non-evidence-based. This on demand webinar discusses the evidence base for respiratory muscle strength training (RMST) devices and shares the assessment and treatment protocols necessary for valid implementation of respiratory muscle strength training protocols. The course will be useful for SLPs working in health care settings treating acute and chronic conditions that impact the functions of breathing, coughing, swallowing, and vocalizing that result from skeletal muscle weakness.
Presenter(s): Dunay L Schmulian, AuD, PhD
Credit(s): PDHs: 2.0, ASHA CEUs*: 0.2
Summary: Professional fatigue and self-care are critical issues for audiologists and speech-language pathologists. Without attention and intervention, professional fatigue can negatively impact a professional’s home life, relationships, personal well-being, work life, and/or ability to deliver person-centered care. This course explores the concepts of empathy, emotional contagion, compassion fatigue, vicarious traumatization, and burnout as they relate to the professions and offers tips to avoid and address these challenges.
Presenter(s): Michelle Tristani, MS, CCC-SLP
Credit(s): PDHs: 1.0, ASHA CEUs*: 0.1
Summary: This session identifies challenges associated with assessing patients with the dual diagnosis of dysphagia and dementia and describes how clinicians can be empowered to use a comprehensive, systematic clinical pathway to create an intervention plan that preserves safety, nutrition, hydration, and quality of life. This course is a recorded session from the 2017 online conference “Dysphagia in Older Adults.”
Presenter(s): Kim Murza, PhD, CCC-SLP
Credit(s): PDHs: 1.5, ASHA CEUs*: 0.15
Summary: Service delivery in the schools is not one size fits all. This course – part of a series that proposes practical approaches to overcoming the big challenges school-based SLPs face – examines strategies for identifying practical, realistic, and optimal service delivery approaches tailored to the students on your caseload and the conditions in your school. Using traditional speaker instruction, case examples, and practice activities, the course explores accessible tools to evaluate the benefits and drawbacks of particular service delivery approaches, including pull-out services and in-classroom services, and helps you select the right option for a particular situation or student.
Presenter(s): Joseph Murray, PhD, CCC-SLP
Credit(s): PDHs: 3.0, ASHA CEUs*: 0.3
Summary: An information-rich videofluoroscopic assessment can help clinicians determine which components of the complex oropharyngeal swallow need to be targeted for intervention. Visualizing all of the elements that contribute to a well-integrated or disordered swallow mechanism requires an ordered and disciplined review. This video course demonstrates methods to enhance clinicians' ability to perform a videofluoroscopic assessment and discern the discrete elements of the oropharyngeal swallow. Participants can practice determining the integrity or disorder of the swallow mechanism by viewing and interpreting case study video.
Presenter(s): Michael G McLeod, MA, CCC-SLP, TSSLD
Credit(s): PDHs: 1.0, ASHA CEUs*: 0.1
Summary: This session explores assessment and treatment of executive function deficits in children with attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) utilizing a language-based approach. The speaker presents research-based strategies that help SLPs view executive functioning deficits-and how to effectively treat them-from a new perspective.
Presenter(s): Wendy Jennejahn, MS, CCC-SLP
Credit(s): PDHs: 2.0, ASHA CEUs*: 0.2
Summary: SLPs who work with children with feeding disorders often face challenges when managing oral hypersensitivities or advancing a child’s diet due to refusal behaviors. This on demand webinar explores the question, “What can I do when oral-sensory-motor deficits and difficult behaviors intersect?” The speaker discusses factors to consider when evaluating children with behavioral feeding disorders as well as uses video examples to illustrate and discuss various treatment strategies.

Summary: SLPs are working with an increasing number of children and families who identify as bilingual, multilingual, or dual language learners (DLLs). This journal self-study explores how family expectations can impact the effectiveness of interventions, how expectations may vary across cultures, and what SLP interventions are considered evidence-based when working with DLLs and culturally and linguistically diverse families.
