Summary: This course describes a study that includes findings from semi-structured interviews with people with Parkinson's disease (PD) and their family members (based in Oklahoma, Texas, and Arkansas) about their current unmet needs and barriers to service delivery. Summary: Medicare beneficiaries are an important patient population to consider when developing a business model, and SLPs in private practice need to know how to enroll in and bill Medicare to ensure they are compliant with federal law. This course walks through the basics of Medicare credentialing, coding and billing, and documentation to ensure successful processing of claims and medical records that will stand up to scrutiny if audited.

Summary: Adults who are deaf or hard or hearing, as well as families of children with hearing conditions, often report that they struggle to understand the results of hearing assessments, make decisions about next steps, and convey the outcomes and implications to others. This course introduces the Ida Institute's new conversation guide, My Hearing Explained, a tool to help hearing care professionals (both audiologists and SLPs specializing in hearing care) present hearing test results in a person-centered way and help patients and their families make decisions that are right for them.

Summary: The theme for this SIG 14 course is multicultural considerations in language assessment and autism screenings. Summary: This session explores SLPs' active role within the Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) framework and describes its alignment with related educational frameworks and concepts such as Response to Intervention (RtI), Common Core State Standards (CCSS), and Universal Design for Learning (UDL). The speaker shares how SLPs can balance their efforts to work with at-risk students within an MTSS framework with the obligation to meet the needs of students with identified disabilities. The presenter also describes how SLPs can consult and collaborate with other educators in addition to directly supporting students.
