Summary: Loss of effective communication can occur across the spectrum of critical illness and recovery, particularly with the use of artificial airways, including endotracheal and tracheostomy tubes. Summary: The Video Head Impulse Test (vHIT) is a diagnostic tool used to assess the function of the balance system, specifically the semicircular canals (SCC) and vestibular-ocular reflex (VOR).
