Summary: It is commonly understood that better outcomes for management and treatment of hearing loss can be linked to greater knowledge and acceptance of the condition by the patient/client/student and their family. This presentation discusses the need and development of an accessible and neutral site where individuals and their families can access diverse information and a variety of literature around topics related to hearing loss. It will also cover the steps for the development of a cultural and informational center, including tips on fundraising and overall management.

Summary: A culturally responsive approach to support clients and families from all backgrounds begins with understanding and meeting them where they are. Summary: This course addresses assessment standards for confident diagnosis of exercise-induced laryngeal obstruction (EILO) for clinicians across settings. Speakers discuss differential diagnoses and complex, co-occurring conditions as well as provide an update on terminology used to describe variants of what used to be commonly known as paradoxical vocal fold motion (PVFM). The speakers use case examples and research summaries to discuss current, evidence-based, behavioral methods for remediation and resolution of these conditions. Summary: This recorded session from the ASHA Audiology 2022 Online Conference provides a comprehensive overview of today's modern and highly sensitive neurodiagnostic vestibular tests, including rotary chair, cervical and ocular vestibular evoked myogenic potentials (VEMP), and video Head Impulse Testing (vHIT), as well as postural stability assessments. The presenters discuss how integrating these tests creates a diagnosis-based strategy that provides the team of diagnostic and rehabilitation professionals with direction and guidance as to the best vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) strategies for the individual patient. The session includes video examples of the range of VRT strategies, including adaptation and habituation.

Summary: Diet texture modification-specifically, thickening of liquid consistencies-is often recommended to compensate for dysphagia in pediatric populations due to their physical and cognitive immaturity. This session discusses the evidence in support of this popular management recommendation and explores the many variables that can impact its effectiveness. The speaker presents strategies that SLPs can implement in their clinical practice to mitigate undesirable consequences of texture modification in the pediatric population.

Summary: There is evidence that many factors contribute to the varied performance outcomes among pediatric cochlear implant (CI) recipients, including etiology and quality of the electrode neuron interfaces (ENI). This course examines a study that investigated the intersection of these factors by analyzing the records and device settings for 156 children with confirmed diagnoses of either enlarged vestibular aqueduct (EVA) or Connexin-26 mutations.
