Summary: In this session, the authors briefly review the literature on the developmental risks and auditory effects of pediatric unilateral hearing loss. Then, members of the Boston Children's Hospital's Cochlear Implant team discuss (a) the interdisciplinary evaluation process for determining candidacy for cochlear implantation, (b) the institution's aural rehabilitation protocol post-surgery, (c) specific outcome measures used to determine benefit, and (d) initial audiological outcomes for cochlear implant users with single-sided deafness.

Summary: The global COVID-19 pandemic has introduced a level of disruption into our personal and professional lives that was previously unimaginable. How we respond will be a deciding factor for the future success of our practices. This session will explore how to embrace change and use this unique opportunity to rethink how we provide and promote our services. Summary: This session provides resources and strategies for developing a stigma-free atmosphere within educational and therapeutic environments for children with a history of opioid exposure. The speaker shares honest parent perspectives that help audiologists and SLPs support colleagues in establishing a destigmatized environment for these children and their families. The session also examines prioritizing these children's speech and language needs through Individualized Family Service Plans and Individualized Education Plans.

Summary: This presentation describes the case of a 48-year-old female presenting with vertigo and disequilibrium consistent with mal de debarquement (MdDS) following a weeklong vacation cruise. MRI images, audiometric, and vestibular results are presented, as well as an in-depth review of MdDS and Chiari malformation and their impact on vestibular function and quality of life.
