Summary: This course explores factors that contribute to health inequities for individuals who report a hearing loss. Individuals with hearing loss report miscommunication, inaccessible health information, reduced awareness by health care providers, and low patient satisfaction while struggling with inadequate health literacy. The course discusses ideas for rethinking and redesigning our health care, through the guidance of innovative clinics and programs, to address these inequities and care for these individuals effectively.

Summary: This session discusses a project that established a cross-sector national consortium of self-advocates with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), family advocates, community providers, and health care professionals. Summary: This webinar is for audiologists and SLPs who are currently supervising-or planning to supervise-students, clinical fellows, or other professionals, as well as for supervisees. The speaker will review relevant parts of the ASHA Code of Ethics that directly relate to supervision, discuss common ethical dilemmas that can arise during the supervision process, and walk through a critical-thinking process to address these dilemmas. You will walk away with tools to recognize and address ethical situations involving supervision and strengthen the ethical decision-making skills of the individuals you supervise.

Summary: The dynamic profession of audiology includes unique settings and equipment, some of which introduce safety concerns, such as communication challenges specific to working in an isolated space. These challenges are important to address in view of increased violence in the health care workplace. Audiologists may lack information and resources to discuss and address their unique concerns.
